Audit & price
What does the audit cost, and what do I get?
Between €2,500 and €4,000, depending on the size of the system. You get a code and architecture review, a WCAG 2.2 AA check, a migration path, the risks, a binding fixed price for the first stage and ranges for the others. If you book the implementation, half the audit fee is credited. The audit is also available on its own, with no follow-up order.
How does the audit work?
It starts with a session with the business side and IT. You give me access to code, test environment and existing documentation. After two to four weeks the report is in your client area, and I walk you through it in a meeting. I can usually start within a week of the order.
When do I pay what?
The audit half on order, half when you receive the report. Each stage has two to four milestones. You pay each one half at the start and half after acceptance, for which you have five business days. Half the audit fee is credited on the first invoice. Maintenance is billed monthly in advance.
Implementation
How long does a modernization take?
One to four months per stage. Larger systems are modernized in several stages, each with its own fixed price. After every stage your system runs, and you decide whether to continue. I usually start the build two to four weeks after the order.
Do you rewrite everything?
In principle yes, because it is faster. With AI, a clean rebuild is usually faster and cheaper today than patching old code piece by piece. It is rebuilt module by module, your old system keeps running in the meantime, and your data is migrated. Where a part works well, the audit shows whether it can stay.
Which systems do you modernize?
Web applications on any older web technology, for example PHP, jQuery, AngularJS, Java or .NET. The whole system: interface, backend and database, data migration included. The target is usually a standard stack with Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL, another one if the system calls for it.
What if something changes during a stage?
Swapping a feature for one of the same size costs nothing extra. Anything bigger gets its own fixed price or goes into the next stage. The agreed price stays stable.
Do you work with our IT team?
Yes. Your team sees every step, can review every state of the code and gets onboarded. It ends with a handover with documentation and a recorded code walkthrough. Code, repos and accounts are in your name from day one.
Data & operations
Do you see our data?
As little as possible. I prefer to work on a test environment without real data. If you want, I sign a non-disclosure agreement up front, and where real data is visible, a data processing agreement applies.
Can the new system run in our infrastructure?
Yes. For example in Azure, AWS or on your own servers, with login via your existing company account, for example via Microsoft login (single sign-on).
Do you also take on accessibility-only projects?
No. Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA is part of every modernization. I do not offer accessibility fixes for existing websites on their own.
